Lee Ann Whippen is not only a pretty lady. It has its own barbecue catering "Chicks Wood "company based in Virginia, operates two popular restaurants, barbecue has its own range of sauces and rubs, and to top it all, is a successful competitor more pro $ 170,000 dollars in prize money in his name.

It is not surprising that Lee Ann Whippen is currently one of seven competitors in Pitmasters BBQ TLC is currently broadcast every Thursday 10pm/9c vieing for the price of $ 40 000 which is currently hanging in the balance between her and the other competitors, Myron Mixon including, Tuffy Stone, Harry Soo, Paul Petersen, Jamie Geer and Johnny Trigg.

Interestingly, Lee Ann promotes the use of a Jedmaster (Rotisserie smoker) and for small cuts, used the WSM Weber Smokey Mountain and Green Egg ceramic smoker.

Lee Ann Whippen barbecue grilling Advice

1. Grill grates should be cleaned and scraped before grilling and cooking oil (ie vegetable, olive oil) must be applied with a cloth to prevent sticking.

2. Soak wood chips in water for ½ hour, drain and enclose in piece of foil. Drill holes in paper with a fork to allow smoke to escape. Place directly over the coals for flavor your favorite meats.

3. Do not use flavored (ie Mesquite) charcoal as it adds a chemical taste the flavors rather than natural wood.

4. Baste with sauce during the last half hour of cooking is not at first.

5. Marinate meat before cooking will not only add flavor, but also to create a product of the bidder.

6. Try to avoid lighter and use sticks to start or chimney charcoal to turn your meat flavors fire so do not get contaminated.

Lee Ann Whippen began competing in the State Championships barbecue in 1996 after winning the Championship State of Georgia in 1996 went to first place with the pork in the prestigious American Royal Championships National. While continuing professionally Hotel Catering for 15 years, she participated in barbecue and has won numerous awards.

In 2002, Lee Ann Whippen decided that his love of barbecue and the restaurant experience is the perfect combination to start "Wood Chicks BBQ" Food and team competition in 2002.

His catering business has become a success and branched BBQ vending in local fairs and festivals, including Neptune, Suffolk Peanut Festival, Pungo Strawberry Festival, Days of the driver and the Chesapeake Jubilee.

Contest State continued with the most recent winning the 2009 Virginia Grand Champion BBQ!

Due to the growth and demand, Wood Chicks BBQ wanted to bring authentic barbecue and smoked locally available seven days a week for their customers. To satisfy the thirst of all bosses barbecue local it opened timber Chicks BBQ restaurant in February 2005 and a second location in April 2008 at 1025 N. Battlefield Blvd.
