I have a question for anyone who does any type of martial arts(or previously has)....?
I am a 16 year old female. I have been doing taekwondo for about 2 years. In about a year I will get my first degree black belt. I have a rebreakable board that I bought so that I can practice breaking it. I got the black board, so it's the toughest yet. Nothing will break it. If I sit on it it wont break. If I punch it it won't break. The only way I can break it is if I put in on 2 bricks and jump on it.
So my question is: is there an exact way to break a board. How do you focus your energy so that you can break it?
I know this question might sound stupid, but if you've ever taken martial arts and you got pretty far, then you'll know what I mean. thanks for the advice. 10 points best answer.
Your instructor will show you exactly how to break a board. If he won't there is probably a good reason. You might consider that.
The board you have is adjustable, right? You can start with a 1/2 board and work up to the full board. If you are doing kicks, you will need someone to hold it. Again, your instructor will help.
I don't advise punches, but palm heels will work. You still need a holder.
The way to break any board is mostly about your focus. Aim = hitting the right spot. Focus=how far through the target you intend to go. You must focus through the target.
Your instructor will show you the difference.
