Martial Artists I need ur help please ?!?
Why is it when i wear Hogu ( Body Guard in WTF Taekwondo) and i get kicked i still feel pain and want to vomit or something i feel i can't breathe .. plz i need excercises that can help me overcome this problem. Should i work on my chest or abs ?! or anything
First of all, you must bear in mind that the original purpose of the body guard is merely for safety reason, to protect you from serious injury in case you get hit full contact. But it is assumed that you do not just stand there and treat the Hogu like a battle armour and not dodge or avoid any oncoming kicks. So you need to work on your footwork to position yourself in such a way that your opponent is not able to effectively throw a kick at you, while you are able to kick him. Secondly, you need to use your arms to block and help protect your body and head in case your opponent does end up connecting with his kicks. Lastly, you need to learn how to time your breathing so you exhale sharply just as his kick makes contact with your body. Other than that, unless you have some type of medical condition that you are not aware of, which would require you to consult a doctor, the only way you'll get used to it is to do drills that require you to get hit while you try to adjust to the feeling of being hit.
