What is the best style fight for self-defense?
I was looking for by taking a kind of self-defense. I would be more comfortable knowing that I know how to protect myself in case of dangerous situation. Kung Fu? Jiujitsu? What do you think?
The way the world going these days, the fighting should be your very last resort. Someone I know has been attacked by a criminal front, which happened to be his neighbor, but because he knew how to fight, he beat the guy really easily and accidentally crossed the property line in the process. Now it's continued for assault. Another guy in one of my martial arts classes has jumped by 6 guys, and he beat them all, but ended up going to jail because one of those who happened to someone who is not involved, just standing very close. I think martial arts are useful as a last resort, but also to build confidence. Drills If you take a good self defense course, it wont just be Puchinger, belts, and the ranks, he will teach you how self-defense situations occur, and how you handle. I do not care how you good in jiujitsu. If you do not know how to deal with someone with a knife or a gun, and have not practiced extensively, you difficulties. I also do not care how you played with guns and knives false rubber in a class, if you havent experienced a realistic situation where you actually feel that your life is threatened, then you will have problems if it actually happens. Take a class as Krav Maga, for this sort of situation awareness. It will give you confidence and great skill. It will also be useful if you begin to wonder what you would do if something happened in any given situation. Start practicing to be more aware. Looking for a good teacher, do some research online and ask around. If someone has been there, as military law enforcment, FBI, etc, then that is better than some guy who just does a lot martial arts. On top of that, just get some spray self-defense pepper. Spray someone with pepper spray will be much more effective than to hit, and much less serious legally. Hope that helps.
