Martial arts class help please ...?
Hello I am 16 and I'm in love with martial arts since I was a kid. I love watch, read about the history and also simply imitate the movements I see Bruce Lee etc. But now I really want to learn martial arts properly. But the problem is with parents. I want to learn a style called Tong Bei Quan where I live and I ask my dad but it wont let me because he says it takes too long (house style). He said I can only do wing chun. There are other MS, but as im so Chinese in the Chinese tradition, it is preferable to stick to things Chinese if you know what I mean. How can I convince him to let me go? I really like martial arts and I'm tired wait so now I really want to do what I love most. Thank you,
I know nothing of Tong Bei Quan, but if it's like you say internal, so my thoughts are that you might expect, because young people often do not understand the internal aspects of martial arts to many older. Not that you will not understand, but usually it takes a lot of hard work and thinking to understand and appreciate it. I want to take the advice of your father and go with the win chung. It is at least an option for you, many people have no choice. You can always study it later if you want.
